I have a long history in the health field beginning as a volunteer of St John Ambulance Australia (VIC) in 1979. My intention at that stage of my life was to become a nurse, but not just a general nurse, a community health nurse! While I did not follow directly that path, I could say that what I do now is an expansion of the vision I had for myself as a teenager.
My undergraduate studies took me into the Social Science field with majors in Psychology & Sociology and later into a 'Graduate Diploma in Health Promotion'. In the 1990's I gathered work experiences in personal care attendant, occupational therapy, first aid training and market research. I held volunteer positions with the Association for the Blind, Para Quad, Muscular Dystrophy Association, North West Hospital Mt Royal Campus and continued my membership with St John for over 25 years.
By the end of the 1990's I needed more than what one job could offer me and so in 1999 I designed a business plan for The Health Exchange; on the 1st January 2000 I opended as a one woman massage therapy business working from the Craigieburn Chiropractic Centre. By November 2002 I had employed a couple of massage therapists and we moved to a rented house in Crockett Avenue, Craigieburn to allow for an expansion of the business. In 2004 we were joined by an Osteopath, Herbalist and Shiatsu Therapist - we were then too big for a residential premises and required a medical centre, including a car park, in order to continue practicing and expand further. Christmas 2004 we moved into 69 Dianne Avenue Craigieburn and continue to grow.
I am now the Practice Manager, Finance Manager, Marketing Manager, one of a team of Receptionists and one of a team of Massage Therapists. I am studying an 'Advanced Diploma in Holistic Councelling and Mind-Body Medicine' part time with an estimated completion before 2018 (when I will be 50 years old!). I have a second business as a distributor for Neways International. In my spare time I work at Bridgewater Lake Retirement Estate as the Team Leader of the Emergency Response Team as well as one of the team members.
I love running my own business and being of service to people. I hope this web site provides you with the information you need so that we can be of service to you. I look forward to meeting you
